Color Digital
Aerial Photography
Since
2006 our company now provides only color digital images since the infrared
film is no longer manufactured.
Square Mile
 |
For agricultural usage the section image
of one entire square mile is most popular. The detail shown on this
scale is sufficient for general management. ( 50cm/pixel resolution)
Variations of growth of canopy, soil differences, water damage and
machinery problems show clearly. |

Quarter Square Mile
 |
This scale has twice the resolution of
the full section. (25 cm/pixel resolution.) This level is preferred
by producers of special high value crops. One can clearly identify
a miss or damage in row-crop machinery. The field scout or agronomist
will use this photo to enhance their field scouting and reporting
to the manager. |

Variable Rate Technology
 |
Variations in the soil type and vegetation
coverage are often clearly observed in the image when taken during
the growing season. This information when combined with a yield map
can provide an excellent opportunity to use variable rate technology. |

Irrigation
 |
Irrigated crops are always intensive agriculture requiring
higher input costs. Therefore it is vital to see and to monitor the
results of these inputs. By studying the variation of the crop canopy
and by study of tissue samples a skilled agronomist can then predict
the variability of the field productive capability. |

Drainage Management
 |
Extensive crop losses occur due to excessive spring
run-off or as a result of heavy rains. These timely photos can document
the damage and provide a game-plan for water management. The photos
are used by drainage contractors for precise drainage planning. |

Riparian Management
 |
“Riparian area” refers to the areas of
land along a stream bank or riverbank. Conservation districts are
encouraging farmers to install appropriate watering systems and to
move cattle away from these areas. By seeding these areas to natural
grass, the water quality of the stream can be greatly improved. These
positive management practices can be clearly illustrated using these
photos. |

Wetlands Study
 |
High resolution properly adjusted digital images will
show valuable details for wetland resource managers. Different shades
of green will illustrate vegetation zones and floating vegetation
in water bodies. Silt load and algae areas on water surface are easy
to identify and to measure. |

This high quality, high-resolution photography is a
valuable tool to monitor the progress of major construction projects.
When coupled with modern GPS the data is ideal to monitor and to record
the progress of highway, power line right-of-ways, railroad and pipelines
projects. The fresh photography is invaluable when presenting an environmental
impact proposal. |

Urban Development
 |
High resolution photo maps are usually produced over
major cities every 3-5 years. Cities are expanding quickly. Supplemental/
site specific aerial photography can be produced by Prairie Argi photo
Ltd. at a reasonable cost on a more frequent basis. This imagery can
be georefernced for the developers and planners showing the latest
developments. |

Lagoon Monitoring
 |
Each province across the Canadian Prairies has a sewage
lagoon site. These require upgrading and expanding. In addition some
have been known to leak sewage water into adjacent farmland causing
serious damage. These images are provide an excellent means to monitor
these facilities. |

Community Recreation Planning
 |
Cities and towns are continuously expanding and modifying
recreational areas. This planning can be done from actual photos or
they can be georefernced to import to a GIS program. |

Present day regulations often require environment impact
studies and the recording of buildings and structures. These high
resolution color images can easily be upgraded to show the details
of latest development. |

There are many applications of these colour photos as an evaluation and
planning tool for any number of projects. Providing a unique perspective
of Yard-Sites, Towns, Golf Courses, Project Sites, Construction Projects,
etc. They may also be helpful for identifying progress and monitoring
project activities. Because the photos are taken directly above the site,
they are quite practical for surveying and taking measurements as well.
All photos are taken with a Hasselblad camera system, the exact system
used by NASA and taken to the moon. This is a high precision system which
provides clear, sharp, and consistent photos.
Manitoba Millennium
Towns

It can be great for towns that want a nice photo of the town for display
purposes, and can also use it as a valuable tool for planning in the community.
The town photos can also be a nice record of how the town looked at that
point in history, and to monitor progressive growth patterns over a period
of time.
In the summer of 2000, Prairie Agri Photo launched the Millennium Town
Project. Throughout the growing season, we photographed more than 150
towns in rural Manitoba. With the year 2000 being a benchmark in our
history, it was the ideal time for the photographs to be taken. All of
these towns are available for Print enlargement as well as in a digital
format for use in community publications, websites, and integration with a
GIS system. For photo availability and pricing, contact Prairie Agri
Photo.
